It’s not often that we find an individual that is selfless and who has no problem maintaining the background, helping, dropping jewles on some of us less knowledgeable folk; somebody that you can get advice from that’s not looking at you for something in return….a facilitator. YAP Radio is blessed enough to have just that in the form of “The Jewel Droppa.” The Droppa chooses to remain in the shadows, only coming out to drop bombs of knowledge and advice to anybody humble enough to take heed and listen. You’ll never know his identity, but his words are very real insightful and informative. Recently we posted an editorial about artist “self snitching.” Well artist, listen up, because The Droppa is dropping jewels today!!…..
“I think artists have lost the sense of moral reality and the difference between real life & entertainment…a lot of them are self-snitching and trying to mask it as entertainment…The courts aren’t stupid!
The argument of entertainment could have been valid in the 80’s and early 90’s because defenses could have argued that any use of lyrics would be conside red targeting a person of a lifestyle different than that of the traditional American at that time.
It’s 2015..there has been enough turnover and growth in the legal ranks that now there are strategic minds that know the difference between what is real & fake. If you’re an artist that is silly enough to speak your truth no matter how good it sounds, there is a agent somewhere trying to solve a case and they know what to look for.
If you want to play the entertainment roll, you need to shoot your video on an official soundstage and be able to show receipts and casting call info to prove that your depiction is truly a production for entertainment purposes.
A artist that wants to speak about situations real or fake, they need to deliver them as audio blockbusters to the theater of the mind and learn to stay away from facts that can be used against them or their crew in a court of law. The courts got smarter…so should the artist!
